The American West are hard at work finishing their debut album with engineer, Jordan Richter, in Portland, Oregon. The 11 song, as of yet, unnamed LP, has been funded by a successful Kickstarter  campaign, and cut to 2in tape at Hallowed Halls recording studio. Following the completion of their album, the American West will be touring Germany, Austria, and Switzerland as a duo. The American West is a project featuring Portland songwriter, Matthew Zeltzer, Maria-Maita Keppeler (harmonies), Will Haas (multi-instrumentalist), and Tucker Jackson (pedal steel). Erich Spielmann (drums) and Lewi Longmire (bass, organ) performed on the album. Matthew Zeltzer has relentlessly toured the west coast since 2010, sharing the stage with The Brothers Comatose, The Milk Carton Kids, members of Blind Pilot, Tall Tales and the Silver Lining, Neal Casal, and many others. He has toured with Jaime Wyatt, Frankie Boots and the County Line, and was an original member of NPR Tiny Desk Contest winner, Fantastic Negrito.
